Note: All of the following images are a guide only there are several brands and models of these types of measuring instruments can be calibrated. Please send an email to enquire about the make and model of your gauge/s prior to sending for calibration.
Electronic Coating Thickness Gauges
Coating thickness gauges are an electronic device used to measure the thickness of dry film, paint or any other material applied as a secondary layer to a metal surface. They provide a measurement of a coating thickness to assure that the coating complies with the required standards.
Ultrasonic Thickness Gauges
An ultrasonic thickness gauge is a measuring instrument for non-destructive investigation of a material’s thickness using ultrasonic waves. The gauge then calculates the data based on the speed of the sound through the tested sample.
Analogue and Digital Testex Tape Gauges
A composite plastic tape is impressed into a substrate profile so that a reverse replica of the profile is produced. The replica is then removed and the profile height measured using a testex tape gauge.
Pit & Crack Depth Gauges
This digital pit & crack gauge measures the depth of pits, crack and craters of the outer surfaces of steel structures and pipes. The depth of the substrate profile is measured using a pit & crack depth gauge. The fine tip allows for the depth measurement of narrow cracks and corrosion. The fine pointed probe projects into the profile valleys while the base of the instrument rests on the profile peaks.
Surface Profile Gauges
A surface profile gauge is an electronic instrument that measures peak-to-valley height of the surface profile of the surface profile of abrasive blast cleaned surfaces or textured coatings.
Hygrometers
Hygrometers are often used before painting, it is necessary to check that the climatic conditions are suitable for the coating to be applied. Painting outside recommended limits can have a detrimental affect on the performance and lifetime of the coating.
CCN traceable report issued for humidity readings at 33% RH & 85% RH at 20°C, surface probe readings at nominally 0°C & 20°C.
Moisture Meters
Moisture meters are used to measure the percentage of water in materials. Building Inspectors rely on moisture meters to identify potential problems and damage to structures from excess moisture. Both instruments shown above have a search mode which provides a non-invasive technique for scanning walls and floors for moisture without damaging the surface.
This moisture meter on the left includes a hygrometer mode.
CCN traceable report issued for humidity readings for instruments with hygrometer mode, moisture pins and probes. Conformance report issued for search mode.
Whirling hygrometer
The whirling hygrometer or sling psychrometer consists of two thermometers mounted on a frame that can be whirled in air by hand. The humidity is calculated using a distilled water soaked wick on the wet-bulb thermometer. Whirling the hygrometer around causes the water to evaporate which alters the temperature of the wet-bulb thermometer. Using the chart provided with the hygrometer allows you to calculate the relative humidity.
CCN traceable report issued with readings at nominally 0°C & 20°C.
Magnetic Surface Thermometer
Magnetic flat surface thermometer, attach to metal surfaces.
CCN traceable report issued with readings at nominally 0°C & 20°C.
Soluble Salts Tester
Soluble Salts Tester measures the concentration of soluble salts (salt contamination) on metal surfaces in accordance with AS3894.6, ISO 8502-6, ISO 8502-9 & ASTM D940.
CCN traceable report issued includes readings.
PCWI DC Porosity Detectors
PCWI DC Porosity Detectors deliver a constant DC output
Porosity Detectors are used for on-site determination of the presence of pinholes, holidays or cracks and other discontinuties that penetrate to the substrate in a non-conductive, protective coating of at least 150µm thickness on a conductive substrate using high voltage.
DC Crest Meter
DC Crest Meter to verify the output voltage of the DC Porosity Detector.
Defelsko Positest HHD High Voltage Holiday Detector
Defelsko Positest HHD High Voltage Holiday Detector detects holidays, porosity, pinholes, leaks and other discontinuities in coatings, linings and membranes using pulse DC.
Defelsko LPD low voltage pinhole detector
Defelsko LPD low voltage pinhole detector detects holidays, pinholes and other discontinuities in coatings on metal and concrete substrates.
Elcometer 270 Pinhole Detector
Elcometer 270 Pinhole Detector the wet sponge technique, also known as the low voltage pinhole method. Testing insulation coatings less than 500 microns thick on conductive substrates.
Coating thickness standards
Coating thickness standards used for calibrating and checking the accuracy of coating thickness gauges.
Ultrasonic Calibration Blocks
Ultrasonic Calibration Blocks used to calibrate ultrasonic thickness gauges.
Barcol Impressor model 934 and Barcol 935
Barcol Impressor model 934 and Barcol 935 used for handheld testing of hardness for aluminium and aluminium alloys, soft metals, plastics, fiberglass, rubber and leather.
Durometers
Type A Durometer used for measuring soft vulcanized rubber, natural rubber, nitriles, thermoplastic elastomers, flexible polyacrylics and thermosets, wax, felt and leathers.
Type D Durometer used for measuring hard rubber, thermoplastic elastomers, harder plastics and rigid thermoplastics.
Defelsko adhesion tester
Defelsko adhesion tester measures adhesion of coatings to metal, wood, concrete, and other rigid substrates. Measures the force required to pull a specified test diameter of coating away from its substrate using hydraulic pressure.
